Creating a second Domain Controller

I am trying to complete lab 11.b Create a Second Domain controller. The instructions/steps in the lab tell me to assign an IP of 10.1.0.11 which I did. When I try to promote the second server to the domain controller it can’t find it. I then re-watched the video lesson and Paul configured the second DC to 192.168.1.11. I tried changing my IP settings and that’s failing too. I’m confused as can be and not sure what I am doing wrong. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi @chrismix2010

For the second domain controller, we need to use as DNS IP address the IP address of the first domain controller. It might be because of that it didn’t find it.

Hi Ricardo,

Am I able to get back into the other server to verify its IP? Can I nslookup the server?

Yes, you can @chrismix2010 . Click on the resources tab on the right side of the screen and you will see the other server. Click on it to focus the display on that machine.
