Question on second domain controller?

I’m on the module 2 for active directory and identity with windows server, my question is that when I created my two virtual machines
dns server academy screenshot

The first virtual machine is the first domain controller that has
ip address 10.0.2.10
default gateway 10.0.2.2
preferred dns server 10.0.2.10
alternate dns 10.0.2.2
The second virtual machine is the second controller that has
ip address 10.0.2.11
default gateway 10.0.2.2
preferred dns server 10.0.2.10
alternate dns server 10.0.2.11

I’ve kept getting the dns request time out but I was able to see
server:unknown
Address: 10.0.2.10
name: ad.serveracademy.com
address: 10.0.2.10 and this is from using vm2 to communicate with vm1
I’m currently using virtualbox and for network settings for both vm, I’ve used bridge adapter

Hi @andrewjames21c

Using a Bridge Adapter for both Virtual Machines will get IP/Subnet information from your LAN where your Host machine is connected. If your LAN is not on 10.0.2.0/24 you might have issues.

You can try changing the network adapters to a NAT that is in a network 10.0.2.0/24.

Also, since you have two domain controllers you can change the alternate DNS of the first to point to 10.0.2.11 and swap the order of the second virtual machine DNS servers.

Where do I put the 10.0.2.0/24. to for one of those vm machine?

In Module 6 we have an Optional Lab Setup section for that module that you can check. The video that shows how to set up the NatNetwork configuration can be seen here:
